Are you still trying to figure out what to get for that person who has everything? How about a book – An old-fashioned book with pages and everything! We have a great selection of books on state, county, and local history. We have cookbooks, children’s books, nature books, biographies and fiction. There are some talented local citizens who have their books on our shelves:
• Cathy Russ recently published her beautifully photographed BARNS – Pacific County Backroads and Highways. Cathy spent six years on this project which resulted in over fifty pages of photos. Who knows … You just might find your neighbor’s barn in this book.
• We have Michael Lemeshko’s The Cantankerous Farmer vs. the Ilwaco Railway & Navigation Company. This is Mr. Lemeshko’s first publication. It is very entertaining history of John Brisco and his legal battle with the IR&NC and right-of-way issues. The book includes many photos and copies of related documents.
• For the teen-ager on your list we recommend Karen Tully’s books.
o Her first publication is Exile. In this, the first volume of The Faarian Chronicles trilogy fifteen-year-old Sunny Price finds herself exiled to her absentee-mother’s home planet. She has to give up her friends and elite gymnastics career to live with a mother who only wants to give orders. Life is difficult on the planet Macaoi and her only goal is to go home; however, when her mother is arrested for murder Sunny thinks twice..
o In Inheritance, the second book in the trilogy, we find Sunny fighting to prove her mother’s innocence. Someone is plotting against her and for her safety her new family sends her away to a school where she is bullied and harassed. Her boyfriend begins to act suspiciously and soon Sunny doesn’t know who she can trust.
o The third book in the trilogy has yet to be released. We look forward to Sunny solving the mystery of who is pulling the strings behind the mayhem she finds herself in.
